Dear Dreamer,
At work, I often hear people tell me happy Friday Eve on Thursdays. This is something that I struggle with, living for the weekend. If I live for the weekend, how can I live for today? I told God recently that I don't feel like I'm living during the week. Really during the week it seems that I have started living for Friday and the weekend. If I do live during the day, I seem to be living for when I get home.
This is wrong though. God did not design us to live for later. Later is not guaranteed anyway. Live for now. This is my challenge not only to myself, but also to you. Dreamer, what are you living for? When are you living for? If you don't know, then you've got to figure it out, because these are important questions.
Dreamer, I'm talking to myself as much as I am to you. These are hard questions to answer. How do I live for today if I am tired and just long for a day of rest on the weekend? "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He restores my soul." Do you believe that? Do you accept that?
Here's the thing though; I believe that we have to let God do that. We have to let God restore our souls. We are just like sheep, and we like to wander. The Bible doesn't use that metaphor all the time for no reason. But Jesus brings us back when we let Him, and He restores our soul. This is God we are talking about. He created the Universe, and He created you. God does not need everything in your life to be at peace in order for you to be at peace. He restores your soul.
So how do we do this? How do we let God in and let Him bring peace to our lives and restore our souls? I don't know the exact answer, but I know where to start. Read your Bible, pray, and pray some more. And when you pray, don't just pray for you or others. Pray to glorify God. Bring glory to His name. Jesus tells us how to pray in the Gospels. Sometimes it is hart to read your Bible and to pray. I believe that if we ask God to make us hungry for Him and for His Word, He will. That is my prayer. I want to be hungry for more of God.
Dreamer, we don't have to just life for our days off. We are here for a reason, and it's not just about us. Dreamer, here is my prayer for you. I pray that God would show you the dreams that He has for you. I pray that He would show you those dreams so that you don't just life for the days off, rather you live for today and see what He placed you on this world for. God has a dream for your life. I dare you to ask Him what it is.
God bless you Dreamer!
